Poo Mixes

"Poo" mixes generally exhibit "hybrid vigor," which basically means the first cross between two unrelated purebred lines is healthier than either parent line. Many breeders claim the puppies take on the best traits of both breeds. Many poodle mixes inherit the "hair" not fur of the poodle. This means that most don't shed, or shed lightly.

When searching for a "poo" mix beware of breeders telling you that you are getting a unique rare one of a kind BREED. "Poo" mixes are not breeds. They are hybrids. A breed must be carefully developed over many generations to fix the desired characteristics. Some groups are trying to have their hybrid, such as the cockapoo and labradoodle, recognized as a breed, but until that happens they are just adorable mutts.
